The Department of Engineering Foundation now has 21 teachers, 1 professor, 10 associate professors and 10 lecturers. As the major supporting department for the School’s engineering mechanics discipline and engineering graphics department, the Department is mechanical engineering doctoral degree awarding body, master’s degree awarding body and mechanical engineering bachelor’s degree body.

The Department now has over 50 postgraduate students who receive academic training from the Department’s CAD center, vibration shock and noise lab, mechanical standards lab and biomechanics lab. Research areas of the Department include: systematic research on product rapid design; vibration test-bed R&D; shock absorption technology; biomechanics; noise control; finite elements analysis; structural seismic resistance calculation; clothing CAD system development; machining tool forming research; product data management; enterprise informatization; product materials integration calculation and optimization design; image processing technology and industrial application; mechanism kinematics and kinetic analysis etc.

The Department has undertaken 4 national-level projects such as “National Natural Science Fund” and national key scientific & technological projects, 6 key and major research projects at provincial/ministry levels, and over 50 scientific & technological projects horizontally commissioned by key industry players. The Department has won 1 second prize of science & technology progress award and 2 third prizes of science & technology progress award at provincial/ministry levels making great contributions to the development of technology.
