Mechanical Design, Manufacture & Automation

Introduction

Advanced manufacturing is the pillar industry the State and Shanghai municipal government make concentrated efforts to develop. “Mechanical Design, Manufacture & Automation” of USST is an academic discipline approved by Ministry of Education and is designed to produce highly capable engineers. Focusing on mechanical/electrical/computer integration and CNC equipment design & manufacturing, the discipline aims to produce senior mechanical engineering technicians who master both fundamental theories of mechanical design, manufacturing &control and practical technologies. These technicians, with strong innovation awareness and international vision, are able to work on design & manufacturing of mechanical equipment and system, new products R&D and business administration.

Automotive Engineering

Introduction

Automotive industry is the pillar industry of the national economy. With the rapid development of automotive technology, professionals capable of automotive design, manufacturing and measurement & control are eagerly sought after. The discipline aims to produce senior technical professionals in the field of automotive engineering who meet the following requirements: showing qualities of high moral character and professional ethics; having humanistic qualities and scientific qualities; having adequate knowledge of fundamentals of natural science, mechanical engineering and automotive engineering; strong ability in engineering practice and continuous learning; strong team spirit, innovation awareness and international vision; capable of working on automotive design, automotive manufacturing and automotive testing & control; having required knowledge, capabilities and qualities; engineering professionals; innovation awareness; internationalized talent.

Electrical Engineering & Automation

Introduction

“Electrical Engineering & Automation” is an interdisciplinary field of study encompassing a variety of subjects including power electronics, electric power system, electric drive, intelligent control, modern electronic technology, computer technology and information technology. The discipline aims to produce senior interdisciplinary engineering professionals who are capable of completing development, design, information processing and management work for electrical engineering, smart grid and electrical system of industrial enterprises. After receiving training in such areas as power electronics, electric power system, smart grid, information technology, computer and electrical machinery, students will be able to solve technical problems connected with electric power system, electrical engineering and control engineering, and possess basis qualities required of electrical engineers. The discipline emphasizes the training in foreign language and computer application. Students receive systematic engineers related training and thereby developing strong work abilities and abilities in electrical engineering design, technology application, organization management and independent scientific research.

Mechanical Design, Manufacture & Automation (International Engineering) (Sino-German Cooperative Program)

Introduction

The discipline is a program jointly created by the School of Mechanical Engineering and Hochschule Furtwangen University (Germany). The discipline aims to produce interdisciplinary senior professionals sought after by China-based German companies. These professionals are expected to be able to make contributions to the industrial development of both China and Germany and possess adequate knowledge of German language and mechanical engineering technology. The program adopts a “3+1” training mode, i.e., concentrated study of German during the 1st academic year, study of discipline related subjects which are taught by German professors (in German) during the 2nd and the 3rd academic years, study at Hochschule Furtwangen University (Germany)during the final academic year (overseas study tuition and living expenses are paid according to German standards). The discipline aims to enable students to develop international vision, ability in communication in German and capabilities in completing mechanical Design, Manufacture & automation related technical work in different cultural backgrounds.
