Introduction to Department of Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering
The Department of Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering currently has 19 teachers including 1 expert of “Thousand Talents Program” of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, 3 professors, 5 associate professors and 11 lecturers (1 national excellent teacher among the 19 faculty members). The Department offers over 10 undergraduate courses.
The Department attaches great importance to teaching, research and practice. The Department is currently working on over 10 teaching and research projects including: Ministry of Education pilot project of comprehensive reform of engineering specialty undergraduate teaching; Shanghai key curriculum construction project; the third round of Shanghai undergraduate education highland construction project (mechanical design manufacturing & automation); undergraduate key curriculum construction project of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission; construction project of demonstration off-campus practice base of Shanghai colleges and universities; key construction project of off-campus practice base of Shanghai Municipal undergraduate colleges and universities. Prizes won by the Department include: first prize of Shanghai teaching achievement award; special prize of USST teaching achievement award; first prize of USST outstanding teaching achievement. The Department focuses on developing students’ innovation and practice abilities and offering guidance for students for innovation and practice projects. Prizes won by the Department students include: first prize and second prize at the 4th and the 5th National College Students’ Mechanical Innovation Design Competition; first prize at the 2nd Shanghai College Students Mechanical Engineering Innovation Competition.
Over the past several years, the Department has completed or undertaken over 30 scientific research projects at national and provincial/ministry levels including national natural science fund, national 863 project sub-project; key equipment and technology project of the state Ministry of Science and Technology; key research project of Ministry of Education; key research project of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission; key equipment technology project of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission; key research project of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission; Shanghai natural science fund; scientific research innovation fund of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. The Department has won over 20 scientific research prizes including “second prize of natural science award of Ministry of Education”, second prize and third prize of China machinery industry science and technology award, and third prize of Beijing science and technology award. The Department has obtained over 10 innovation patents, and published over 200 papers in domestic and foreign journals such as Japan Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Journal Mechanical Engineering including over 10 SCI papers, over 40 EI papers and over 50 ISTP papers.
