On April 20, Professor Abuzar Ghaffari, operation and special project director of University of Lahore of Pakistan, led a delegation to visit the School of Mechanical Engineering of USST. Gu Chunhua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President, met with the delegation. Li Haolin, dean of School of Mechanical Engineering, Yuan Yuan, Secretary of the Party Committee, Cai Hui, Deputy Head of International Exchange Office, and other relevant personnel were present at the meeting.
Li Haolin, the School President, extended a welcome to the delegation of University of Lahore and introduced the operations of the School to the delegation including the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate talent cultivation, international exchange and cooperation, and construction of platforms such as international joint laboratory and first-class disciplines. The President told the delegation about the School’s determination to respond proactively to China’s “One Belt and One Road” initiative and readiness to explore ways to achieve cooperation with University of Lahore in various fields. Abuzar Ghaffari, professor of University of Lahore, made a presentation about the strengths of University of Lahore (the largest private university in Pakistan) from the perspectives of faculties, teaching staff, students, accredited status. He also invited students and teachers of our School to pay a visit to University of Lahore. The two sides had a further discussion on a range of issues including industry and education joint platform along “One Belt and One Road”, international joint laboratory, scientific research cooperation, postgraduate students training and students/teachers exchange. After the meeting, the delegation visited the School’s international cultural park.
Both the School of Mechanical Engineering of USST and its counterpart of University of Lahore have developed their unique strengths in academic discipline and attached great importance to applied research. The two sides shared many similarities in terms of talent cultivation and discipline development. Thanks to the “One Belt and One Road” initiative, the two schools will engage in in-depth and multi-directional exchange and cooperation, seek common ground while reserving differences, and pursue common development. These efforts will make significant contributions to the enhancement of friendship between the two countries and implementation of “One Belt and One Road” strategy.
